Ride with Sûr
Bypass the corporate markup. Pay less for your daily commute while ensuring your driver earns more. Here is exactly how to get started.
1Download & Install
Sûr operates just like other rideshare apps.
- Download the Sûr Rider app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Open the app and grant the requested Location and Overlay permissions. These allow Sûr to know your location and find the best driver for you.
2Create Your Account & Wallet
Sûr uses Web3 technology to eliminate banking middlemen, but you don't need to be a crypto expert to use it.
- Verify: Enter your email. You will receive a secure One-Time Password (OTP) to log in.
- Invisible Web3: Behind the scenes, Sûr automatically generates a secure Solana wallet tied directly to your device.
- Sign the Pact: You will cryptographically sign the 501(c)(7) Mutual Aid Cooperative Agreement, officially becoming a club member.
- Funding Your Wallet: You will need to load your wallet with USDC (a digital token pegged exactly to the US Dollar). You can do this right inside the app using CoinBase, which offers zero-fee exchanges between USD and USDC. You can also exchange USDC back for USD at any time.
3Requesting a Ride
Sûr gives you all the options.
- Select your pickup and dropoff locations and preferred ride tier.
- You decide how much to offer the driver. Easy comparisons with Uber and Lyft are offered at the touch of a button.
- You can also decide exactly how long you are willing to wait for a driver to pick you up (under the Options tab).
4The Pre-Auth Escrow
To ensure total trust between peers, Sûr uses an automated smart-contract escrow.
- When you offer a ride, the network requires you to have enough USDC in your wallet to cover the offered price.
- Sûr immediately broadcasts your request to nearby club drivers. The first driver to accept it locks in the ride.
- After a driver accepts the ride, your funds are transferred to a digital escrow account.
- Note: If no Sûr driver accepts the ride, the funds remain in your digital wallet.
5Dropoff & Final Settlement
Once the Sûr driver accepts the ride, you can track the route live on the Sûr map.
- When the driver confirms the drop-off, the driver gets paid from the escrow account.
- $1.00 goes to the cooperative network for server upkeep, and $0.20 is paid out in referral fees.
- All of the remainder goes to the driver's wallet, minus any applicable taxes, fees, and insurance.
- All digital transfer fees ("Gas fees") are paid by Sûr. Solana blockchain transactions typically clear within seconds.
- Both you and your driver will receive an email receipt confirming the ride with complete transparency of every USDC spent.
6The Sûr Guarantee
Sûr has a zero-tolerance policy for bad driver behavior.
- Sûr is only for individuals who value their membership and will act accordingly.
- Upon documentation of unacceptable behavior (harassment, alcohol/drug use, etc.) the violator's membership will be revoked immediately.
- Unlike Uber/Lyft, we do not keep these people around in the hope of increasing revenue. The Sûr experience is most valuable to us!
